The Central Luzon State University (CLSU), in collaboration with Academics Without Borders-United States of America (AWB USA), successfully conducted a four-day training on Water Evaluation and Adaptation Planning (WEAP) from September 8 to 11, 2025, at the CLIRDEC Conference Room and the Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management. WEAP, is a water resource planning software developed by the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI).

The four-day training on Water Evaluation and Adaptation Planning (WEAP) at CLSU followed a structured set of activities designed to equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical applications of the tool. On Day 1, participants reviewed exercises 1–5 and began building their own WEAP model, providing them with a strong foundation on how the software functions in simulating water systems. On Day 2, the group went on a field tour in Pantabangan to gain a deeper understanding of watershed management in practice. This was followed in the afternoon by presentations on integrating WEAP into the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering curriculum, the role of scientists in decision-making, and the broader application of WEAP in the Philippine context.

Day 3 focused on research application, with the Philippine Team presenting rice research that detailed objectives, variables, and equations used in modelling, while also demonstrating simulation and optimization techniques. The afternoon session allowed participants to directly apply WEAP in rice research, showing its relevance to agricultural water planning. Finally, on Day 4, the training continued with hands-on application of WEAP in rice research, and the program concluded with a closing session that emphasized the importance of integrating water planning and adaptation strategies into agricultural research and development.
